Opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:15 – 18:30. Telephone bookings for appointments are taken from 08:00. All consultations are by appointment only.
Appointments can be booked:
- In advance pre-bookable anytime [up to 3 months]
- On the day - bookable only on the day
- Emergency - will be seen on the day if you feel your problem cannot wait until the next day
We aim to see our patients at a time that is convenient for them.
When making an appointment to see one of our nurses or doctors our receptionists will ask you some basic questions about your consulting problem - this is to ensure that the appointment is made with the right person for the right amount of time.
This system is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of general practice and may from time to time change, depending upon both the demand and resources available.
Doctors Consulting Hours
08:30 until 11:00 and 15:00 until 17:50 Monday to Friday.
Telephone Appointments 07:00 to 08:00 are also available Mondays and Tuesdays.
Nurse Consulting Hours
The nurses are in surgery Monday to Friday from 08:30 until midday and then again from 14:00 until 17:30.
We also have our Nurse Practitioner who is able to prescribe medications. She is also available 08:30 – 17:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
All GP appointments are of 10 minutes duration. It is helpful to bear in mind that it is difficult for any GP to attend properly to several problems in one 10 minute appointment.
Our nursing appointments will vary in length due to the nature or complexity of the problem.
You can book GP appointments online through our website. Please contact reception for further details.
If you have suffered a minor injury - please contact the surgery and we would be more than happy to see and assess. This will avoid long waiting times at our very busy and pressured Urgent Care Centres or Emergency Department.
If you have a medical problem that you do not feel requires a face to face consultation, then the GP will be more than happy to discuss this by a telephone appointment.
Please contact reception to request a telephone appointment.
If you are unable to attend the surgery for an appointment due to very ill health or a disability then we may arrange a home visit. Please call the receptionists before 10 am and be ready to give your name, address, telephone number and brief details of what is wrong. You may be triaged by one of our nurses to assess your suitability for a home visit.
A home visit will only be arranged if we feel it
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Extended Access Appointments
We are increasing the number of appointments available for you to see a GP in the early mornings, evenings or at weekends across West Leicestershire.
Depending on your individual circumstances and symptoms, we may offer you an ‘extended access’ appointment. Please note however, that these appointments will not be in your usual GP practice and may not be with one of your usual GPs or nurses.
